100% agree to everything except testimonials… it is easy to cheat on that – so, only a reference of well known businessman will do the job.

Good tips, thank you. I agree with “Web Design Maidstone” about the testimonials, though. I’m always suspicious about testimonials on the web; I don’t really believe them. I saw a design website that provided references on request; maybe that’s a better idea?

All good suggestions, especially having a picture of yourself. Many folks don’t like to do this, but it makes potential clients more comfortable in making a call.

Haha, I have my photo on my website and I had to meet a client and he knew who I was because of it.
I don’t agree about testimonials though… My clients put testimonials on their websites, that they write themselves… so I never believe them.

I have heard many times that one show only showcase their best work, for example in design school.
Testimonials seem to be a nice touch as well. I think so long as they seem believable and look verifiable it makes sense. I am a big review checker myself.

Testimonials are great. Just make sure you have your clients name and title. You should also over deliver and don’t be afraid to ask for testimonials after a great job done, preferably after a major project.
