Join todayStep 1: Prepare Your Image
- Open your image in Photoshop.
- Right-click on the layer in the Layers Panel.
- Choose ‘Convert to Smart Object’. This allows you to work non-destructively.
Step 2: Apply Camera Raw Filter
- Navigate to the ‘Filter’ menu at the top.
- Select ‘Camera Raw Filter’ from the dropdown menu. This will open the Camera Raw dialog box.
Step 3: Mask the Clothes
- In the Camera Raw dialog, click on the masking icon (usually located at the right side toolbar within the dialog box).
- A new menu appears; click on ‘People’ and then select ‘Person’.
- Among the available options, check ‘Clothes’ to mask only the clothing areas of the image.
- Click ‘Create’ to apply the mask.
Step 4: Change the Color
- With the clothes now masked, you can adjust the color by changing the Hue, Temperature, or Tint sliders until you achieve the desired color.
- For this tutorial, we’ll change the color to yellow. Adjust the hue slider until the color shifts to yellow.
- After adjustments, click ‘OK’ to apply changes.

Hello and welcome to Creative Nerds. In this short Photoshop tutorial we’ll be sharing with you how you can change somebody’s clothes, the colour, in Photoshop in a matter of seconds. So we’re going to start off by selecting our image and we’re going to right click on our layer and select convert to smart object. From there we’re going to head over to filter and select camera raw filter. This will bring up the camera raw dialog box. From there we want to select the masking icon which is this one here and then it will bring up people and we want to select person and then it will bring up various options we can check for items that we want to mask. So we’re going to choose clothes, select create and then from there we can change the hue, values and this will change the colour or we can change the temperature or the tint. So we’ll change it to be yellow and select ok. There you go so that’s how you can quickly change clothes colours in Photoshop in a matter of seconds.
