Hello, and welcome to Creative Nerds! In today’s Photoshop tutorial, we’re going to show you how to create a stunning gold text effect in just a few simple steps. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Add Your Text
First, we’ll begin by typing your desired text in the center of your canvas using the Type Tool (T).
Step 2: Open Blending Options
Once you have your text, navigate to the text layer in your Layers panel. Right-click on it and select “Blending Options…” This will open the Layer Style dialog box.
Step 3: Apply Color Overlay
The first thing we’re going to adjust is the “Color Overlay.” Click on it in the left-hand menu. Set the Blend Mode to “Normal” and click on the color swatch. We want to set the color to a vibrant yellow. A great hex code to use is #F8C028, but feel free to choose any bright yellow that you think looks best for your gold effect. Once you’ve entered your color, click “OK” on the Color Picker and then “OK” on the Layer Style dialog box for now (we’ll reopen it).
Step 4: Apply Bevel and Emboss
Now, go back to your text layer, right-click, and select “Blending Options…” again. This time, head over to “Bevel and Emboss” and click on it to activate its settings. Apply the following:
Style: Inner Bevel
Technique: Smooth
Depth: 1000%
Direction: Up
Size: 13 pixels
Soften: 0 pixels
Shading – Angle: 90 degrees
Shading – Altitude: 30 degrees
Gloss Contour: Click the dropdown and select the “Double Ring” contour.
