A lot of people can be very sceptical about pursuing a career as a freelance designer. Freelancing can be seen as not a secure income, where as being an in house designer or web designer offers more stability. Through out this article I have shared some of the advantages which come with being a freelancer within the web design industry, but pretty much relates to any niche.
You are your own boss

You won’t have a boss breathing down your neck telling you what you needs to be done. You are your own boss meaning you can work independently and make your own decisions, and don’t have to feel pressured to getting the job done to your employees satisfaction, but only to satisfy yourself and your client. Being your own boss is certainly a huge time saver. You don’t need to spend hours or even days in countless meetings, discussing unachievable targets or setting goals which will be changed by next week.
A good work life balance

Being a freelance designer its a lot easy to apply an work hard play hard philosophy to your life style. This will allow freelancers to spend more time with friends and family as well as fulfilling hobbies or leisure activities, while still maintaining a hard work policy.

When you work for an in house web design company you may not always be getting paid what you think you deserve, your role in the company is usually to just help build profits for the company. Its a crawl world but that’s simply how business works. When you work for a company the client pays the company then the company pays you. Freelancing your cutting out the middle man which means your maximising the full amount of profitability which potentially could be made from a client.
Flexible time

You can work early mornings or late nights. You can find a working schedule which you prefer to work in order to work when your most productive in order to be the most pro active through out that period of time, this will enable you to work to your full potential and produce the best results for clients.

Your in a position where you can choose what projects you would like undertake or refuse. You can simple choose to undertake projects which are of interest to you, or sounds like an interesting challenge for your to undertake and which is a more unique and diverse than usual projects you work on.

I’m not saying that freelancing is the worlds greatest occupation.Theirs a few perks which come alongside freelancing if your considering making the transition form your usual occupation, alternatively if your thinking about freelancing part time in order to put some extra money away, freelancing is certainly worth considering.
